Some fascinating places in Uruguay
Cabo Polonio National Park
This place is highly recommended for those who really want to relax and disconnect from the hectic daily life.
The park, located in the east of the country in the department of Rocha, is part of the National System of Protected Areas. Here is the small Cabo Polonio spa.
It is adorned with the Cabo Polonio Lighthouse and surrounded by a great unaltered natural wealth that has large dunes, rocky points, native coastal forest, small wetlands, islands inhabited by numerous sea lions and beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.
Visiting this place is a unique experience from the first moment, since to enter the National Park and get to Cabo Polonio it is necessary to take open 4x4 trucks like those of a safari and do a journey of approximately 30 minutes passing between dunes and forests with incredible panoramic views of the entire park. The more adventurous can make this 7km tour on foot or on horseback to have a greater contact with nature.
Once in the Cabo Polonio spa we will find several peculiarities: the accommodations are simple, with rustic wooden houses and inns, there are no vehicles, no streets, or electricity. This allows you to live a unique and incomparable experience, as if you were able to go back years in civilization and enjoy the magical Uruguayan sky at night.
It also has several activities to do, such as hiking, horseback riding through the dunes and forests, bathing in the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, walking along the beautiful beaches, visiting the Cabo Polonio lighthouse (where you will have to enjoy the beautiful views panoramas of the whole place), walks on the small islands off the coast, surfing at local schools and much more.

Colonia del Sacramento
This ancient city was built by the Portuguese in 1680, with a strategic position on the Río de la Plata and currently retains its charm as a colonial city.

It is known as one of the best tourist places in the country for history buffs, being a historic center declared one of the World Heritage Sites according to UNESCO. Its narrow stone streets and colorful colonial architecture allow any tourist who passes by to get lost walking.
Among its must-sees, one cannot fail to mention the charming Calle de los Suspiros, with its dim lanterns and centuries-old buildings, and the Colonia Lighthouse.
You can also tour the old Plaza de Toros, different museums such as Azulejo or that of Ferrocarril(Railway), in the latter you have the possibility to live the great experience of eating in a vintage wagon
In addition to the historical part of Colonia del Sacramento, this city has much more to offer: beautiful beaches, its exquisite cuisine, walks and water sports, walks around the port (which are recommended to do with the sunset as it accompanies us with the beautiful views over the Ro de la Plata).
